The StrapWing is an aerodynamic device that smooths the air flow as it passes over a winch strap. It attaches to each winch strap after the load has been secured. It requires no tools, clamps or clips because the internal notches hold onto the straps. It takes only a few seconds to install or remove each one.
The StrapWing is designed for two reasons:
1) Improve fuel efficiency by reducing winch strap vibrations that cause aerodynamic drag
2) Reduce chafing or abrasions that can damage a strap or the freight
The StrapWing is made of lightweight material that is rugged and can withstand typical trucker environments including temperature extremes and UV exposure.
With trucks traveling up to 11 hours per day and 70 hours per week, every additional gain in fuel efficiency means more net income for truckers.
Proudly designed and made in the USA.
Comparison: with and without StrapWings
StrapWing dimensions: 30" long, 0.5" thick and 1.75" wide. Each one weighs less than 8oz. The internal groove latches onto the strap.
Without StrapWings, the mesh rebar panels can damage the straps as they flutter.
This is a set of 32 StrapWings.
This is the ideal coverage because most of the strap areas that are exposed to the wind are covered with StrapWings.
This load has double-stacked StrapWings.
This strap shows damage caused by vibrations from flutter.
Potential Out-of-Service from DOT.
This looks unprofessional and is likely dangerous.
The gap between the winch strap and the load would create a lot of flutter without StrapWings.
Early prototypes using different materials and extrusion molds. The final design is lightweight but still has the rigidity needed to keep its shape.
Damaged crate. This is not only dangerous to other vehicles but will cause a delay to resecure the load.
Cuts and nicks will continue to grow with small vibrations caused by swirling airflow around twisted straps.
Installing and removing each StrapWing takes a few seconds. No tools are required.
